Creme Brulee French Toast



Serves 10

1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons honey
6 slices day old Dakota Challah (1 inch thick)
5 large eggs
1 1/2 cup half-and-half
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon orange syrup or orange liqueur
1/4 teaspoon salt

1. Combine butter, brown sugar and honey in a heavy saucepan over medium heat.
2. Cook, stirring constantly, until melted and smooth.
3. Pour into a 13x9 inch baking dish.
4. Trim crusts from bread and arrange in one layer in the baking dish.
5. Whisk together the eggs, half and half, Grand Marnier, vanilla and salt in a large mixing bowl.
6. Pour evenly over the bread.
7. Cover and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.
8. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
9. Remove the dish from the refrigerator and let come to room temperature.
10. Bake, uncovered, for 35-40 minutes or until puffed and edges are light golden brown.
11. Serve immediately with individual pieces turned over with the carmel on top.


Cinnamon Bread Souflee

2 cups brown sugar
1 cup butter (melted)
2 teaspoons cinnamon
3 cups whole milk
6 extra large eggs
1/2 cup reg. sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cinnamon breads (not sliced from Dakota)

1. Grease a 9x13 baking dish (or a touch bigger dish) put baking dish on cookie sheet
2. Melt butter, mix together butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar in on bowl
3. In separate bowl, beat together eggs, white sugar, vanilla and milk
4. Slice bread (thick), and start to layer
5. One layer of bread, then spread some of the melted butter mixture over first layer, continue layers, bread, melted butter mixture until you don't have any more bread left.
6. Pour milk, egg, etc. mixture over top of entire bread.
7. Cover and put in fridge overnight.
8. Bake 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes (bake uncovered)
9. Serve with syrup
